What to expect.

You'll receive confirmation details in advance — the date, time, location, and the name of the physician you'll be seeing. If you have any questions, you can call or email us directly.

During your assessment.

The physician will ask you about your medical history, current condition, and how it affects your daily life. They will not be treating you — this is an assessment only. Be honest and thorough.

After your assessment.

The physician prepares a report based on the assessment. The report goes to the party who requested it — your lawyer or the insurance company. You may request a copy through your legal representative.

Answers to common questions.

What is an independent medical assessment?

An independent medical assessment is a medical examination arranged by a third party — typically an insurance company or a legal professional — to assess a medical condition or injury. The physician does not treat you; they review your condition and prepare a report.

Do I need to bring someone with me?

You're welcome to bring a support person to the location. Whether they can be present during the assessment may depend on the type of assessment. Contact us in advance if this is important to you.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. Your personal and medical information is handled in compliance with applicable privacy legislation. REI does not share your information beyond what is required for the assessment.

What if I need to reschedule?

Contact REI as soon as possible. We'll do what we can to accommodate a change. Please do not simply not show up — if you need to cancel, let us know in advance.

Is parking available?

Parking availability varies by location. Details are included in your appointment confirmation. If you're unsure, contact us.

We're here if you have questions.
